Metalmite has always offered to pick up and deliver parts at no additional charge. We will not have a trucking or delivery fee on our invoices if it is local to us. In some cases the customer requests overnight shipping with UPS or FedEx and we will allow them to pay for that. However, one of the founding principles that we still honor today is that we offer the trucking at no additional charge. This became more difficult to do as the gas prices increased and as our customers spread out. But in 2012 we made the decision to eliminate one full-size van and purchase a Ford Transit Connect. This move has made a tremendous difference! We are averaging 25 to 26 miles per gallon!

The Ford Transit Connect is a compact panel van developed by Ford Europe and designed by Peter Horbury, introduced in 2002 to replace the older Ford Escort and Fiesta-based Courier van ranges, which had ceased production in the same year. The Transit Connect employs the front-wheel drive Ford C170 platform of the original international Ford Focus—the same platform used with the North American Ford Focus before the 2012 model. The Ford Transit Connect was awarded “Van of the Year 2004” by Professional Van and Light Truck Magazine. In its first year on the North American market, the Transit Connect was awarded “North American Truck of the Year 2010” at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).
