Tom Gendich

Tom Gendich, President of Metalmite Corporation

Tom grew up in the in the manufacturing environment. He can recall deburring parts and sweeping floors even in his early childhood. As a teenager he learned to run machinery and draw parts to print. After graduating high school, Tom started pursuing a lifelong dream to become a pilot and an airframe/power plant mechanic while obtaining a degree in aviation at the same time. Returning to his roots, he continued to work in manufacturing with a keen interest in Aerospace and Technology. Tom then went on to earn a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and became the President of Metalmite Corporation after his father’s retirement.

As President, Tom continues to keep his father’s vision alive as he studies and perfects lean manufacturing principles and the modern mechanization of ISO 9001-2015 and AS9100 D processes to apply them to Metalmite. Holding to the belief that there is always a better way, Tom continues to pursue the 3 P’s of Metalmite: Precision, Performance, and Price.

Mike Gendich

Michael Gendich III, Founder of Metalmite Corporation

Our founder Michael’s extensive manufacturing background started in the 1950’s in Downtown Detroit where he learned the trade of machining as a teenager. He graduated high school in 1958, then attended the University of Detroit School of Engineering, where he was trained in drafting, metallurgy, and business principles. After working as a draftsman, a salesman, and as a shop manager, Michael became inclined to start his own machine shop. He dreamed of a maximum efficiency shop that could utilize modern technologies and work as a team to solve today’s industry problems. From this dream came Metalmite Corporation in 1968. Michael has since invested in the best CNC equipment the industry could offer; CNC lathes, CNC mills, CNC Grinders, Wire EDM, and even CNC saws. The lean manufacturing concept is finally catching on industry wide, but Metalmite was ahead of the curve with this concept in mind for the past 50+ years. Michael was commonly heard saying, “We do it right at Metalmite!” After retiring in 2010, Mike went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2013. Click here for memories of Mike Gendich.
