5 Axis Machining

A Military customer approached Metalmite with a request for fast turnaround on a new style Swing Arm for a military vehicle.  The task was challenging because there were not very many flat surfaces to hold onto the part.  Metalmite processed the part to bolt through the middle and use their 5 axis Mori Seiki NMV 5000 to machine it complete.  By being able to spin and rotate the part in every direction the part could be completed in one holding and then “parted off” in the middle when finished.  It was a great challenge that was met with great anticipation and thrilling results. This has lead the way to several more brackets and swing arm’s that are made from 7075-T7 and even some Titanium brackets have been looked at!
